Scary and Disturbing Scenes
The film contains several suspenseful and prolonged sequences involving realistic and impactful depictions of supernatural occurrences, including attacks on the characters by the spirits. A strong sense of threat is sustained throughout the film, and this is accented by occasional jump scenes, through the use of camera angles and sound effects.
While there are no strong portrayals of violence and/or gore, the psychological impact is heightened by the sustained sense of threat in the drawn-out scenes, with little down time in between the scenes.
In one of the more impactful sequences, one of the protagonists has a psychic vision of her husband's death. In the vision, she is taunted by a demonic spirit which takes on the appearance of a nun. The spirit 'reveals' her husband's death, showing him being impaled. The scene is darkened and the wound is not visible. However, the unexpected violence is startling and impactful.
In addition, there are a few scenes depicting demonic possession which may be disturbing to some viewers.
One of the protagonists is a young girl who is targeted and possessed by malicious spirits. There are scenes in the film of the girl speaking in a demonic voice, levitating in mid-air and contorting her body into a tight space whilst she is possessed.
As a whole, the cumulative psychological impact of the various horror elements in the film makes it suited for an older teen audience, as it contains disturbing scenes without strong detail, as well as frightening scenes which are more prolonged.
'The Conjuring 2' is a horror sequel revolving around two paranormal investigators Lorraine and Ed Warren. The Warrens travel to Enfield, London, to help a single mother and her four children, whose house is plagued by malicious spirits.

Wow wow wow!! I've never been much of a fan of sequels but The Conjuring 2 was incredible. I'm never one to jump at everything 'scary' I see in movies as usually you've seen it all before & let's be honest, nothing really scares you much when your not a teenager anymore. However The Conjuring had me jumping all over the place. At one point I even yelped, much to my embarrassment, but that's why we go to horror movies! To be scared & the conjuring didn't disappoint. All actors gave amazing performances & the story had you never in a state of boredom. Walking out of the cinema I couldn't wait to see what The Conjuring 3 would bring! (Assuming we're lucky enough for another). Definitely a movie to see in the cinema. I give it 10/10!! Great movie!!
