Sexy, Sex and Nude Scenes

Implied sex between 2 characters.

Mild sexual references.

Violent and Bloody Scenes

Bomb-related violence resulting in some bloodshed.

In the opening of the film, Gaerity puts a pillow over his cellmate's face and stabs him multiple times through it. There is a bloody spot on the pillow afterwords as well as the stuffing.

A dead body is seen with a pool of blood by its head.

A van explodes killing several people. We briefly see their burnt dead bodies.

Max has a device strapped to his back that will explode if he moves. He attempts to get away, but it sets off and he is then seen burning to death.

Jimmy and Ryan fight on a ship. They fall through a hole in the floor and Jimmy stabs Ryan in the neck. Jimmy is knocked over and the two fall down a tunnel and Jimmy escapes just as the ship explodes, killing Ryan.

There is a minor car crash at the end, however no one is harmed.

Scary and Disturbing Scenes

The scene in which Max has a device strapped to his back that will explode if he moves and cannot be saved is very intense.

There is a prolonged fight in the last half hour of the film that might be intense for some viewers.

At the very end of the film, Jimmy has to disarm a bomb that is in the engine of his wife's car. He stops it however and nobody is harmed.

The final explosion is one of the most intense scenes.

The extreme close-ups of the contraption that Ryan built to activate the ship bomb may be too intense for some, as it keeps you on edge.

Review

Nothing more than a formula action picture, a studio product, but well-done and fairly enjoyable. Stephen Hopkins proves (again, after "Predator 2") to be adept at filming frenetic action scenes and he shows confidence in the way he uses the camera, especially in the "long shots". Tommy Lee Jones is kind of one-note as the villain, and not very satisfying, but Jeff Bridges gives depth and credibility to his role, and the supporting cast is above-average. Oh, and there ARE some spectacular explosions. (**1/2)
